2023 is right around the corner and next year’s trends are starting to emerge, and there’s on in particular we want to try asap: Gemini Hair. The latest Pinterest Predicts report for 2023 has confirmed the serotonin-spiking dual-color trend is set to take over and hair hues of pinks, purples, and blues will be all over your social media.
If you’re hesitant to try this bold new trend, fret not! Though I’ve tried all kinds of hair colors, I’ve never strayed far from different shades of browns, reds, and highlights, but there’s something about strawberry pinks and light lavender that has me smiling.
Is it the heaviness of the discourse that has us all searching for something a little lighter and brighter? Maybe! But if you’re like me and are suddenly tempted by this new look, you can still participate! You can dip your toe in the Gemini hair trend with semi-permanent dye, or with accessories that will have you avoiding coloring your hair at all.
We’ll cover all about the Gemini Hair trend and 3 ways to get the look.
What is Gemini Hair?
The Pinterest press release describes it this way: “Geminis don’t have to choose, and your hair shouldn’t have to either. In 2023, two-toned tresses will take off more than ever. Gen Z and Millennials are behind this rising trend in hair color that mixes natural hues with bright blues, purples, and pinks."
Geminis are known for their duality, but whether you’re a Virgo or a Leo, this highly expressive style can work for everyone. Gemini hair is two-toned hair coloring using shades of pinks, purples, and blues, and/or combining one of those colors with your own natural color.

3 Ways to Get Gemini Hair
If you’re hesitant to take the plunge with a more permanent hair dye, there are several ways to get this look more easily and without the commitment.
Extensions are a great way to try out some pink or blue strands and mix them in with your natural hair.
The bright extensions are great if you’d like to wear down and style, just make sure to keep your heat tools on a low setting.
This hairpiece will cover your whole head in soft pink waves, or weave a few pieces throughout your hair to combine with your natural color.
These sets of 10 pieces comes in a whole range of colors including some rainbow sets.
I get it, blue and pink hair can seem a little wild, especially if you’re the type to get the same nude shade of nail polish every time you get a manicure (I’m right there with you!) But you can still jump on the Gemini Hair trend without changing your hair at all. Ribbons and bows in these colors will have a similar effect.
Place a bow like this onto your half up half down hairstyle or on top of a braid.
You can also wrap a ribbon into your braid which makes it look more like it is a part of your hair, so an easy way to incorporate a splash of color without touching your hair with some dye.
These ribbons come in light shades of pink and blue and the mesh fabric
3. Temporary Hair Dye
From dyes that wash off in your next shower to those that wash out after 4-6 weeks, there’s no shortage of hair dye you can try for a little (or a lot!) of color. Our favorites are Hally which is demi permanent and comes in shades of pink, blue and purple.
Hally's foaming hair color washes out in 4-6 weeks and comes in shades like cool, dusty lilac, warm and pinky blond, and pale, ocean blue.
