It was on a whim that I picked up The Ordinary’s Multi-Peptide Serum for Hair Density to review. I’ve never really had concerns about hair growth before, and I’ve also never used any of the other skincare products from The Ordinary.

After I had a baby a year ago though, I started to lose my hair due to postpartum hair loss. The hair loss was shocking, but most of it did start to grow back pretty quickly. But several months later I was still left with some empty patches where hair still stubbornly wouldn’t grow.

The Ordinary’s Hair Serum has become one of the most popular of their recent, new haircare launches and I was intrigued by the good reviews and low price. I decided to use it daily for a month before deciding whether to continue, and now 45 days out I’m excited to share my surprising results!

What Does the Ordinary Multi-Peptide Serum for Hair Density Do?

The Ordinary’s hair serum claims to stimulate hair growth and make existing hair stronger and thicker. It can also help treat and soothe irritated and itchy scalps.

How to Use the Ordinary Multi-Peptide Serum for Hair Density

To use The Ordinary’s Hair Serum, you apply a couple of drops of the liquid to the area daily. You need to apply it to a clean, dry scalp. It’s recommended to apply it before bedtime since it is a leave-in treatment and you don’t want to wash it out. Once it’s been applied, massage it into your scalp.

I applied every night right before bed with a couple of drops directly from the dropper. I massaged it in a little and then went to bed.

The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Serum for Hair Density Review

Since I have hair that tends to get oily quickly, I was worried the serum would only increase that and leave an oily film on my scalp. I was super surprised to find that wasn’t the case at all. It goes on feeling something like a very light oil, but once it sunk in it dried completely. It’s a water-based formula and incredibly lightweight. It truly felt like an invisible potion sending messages to my scalp without disturbing my hair or scalp.

I also thought I may have to wait more than month to see any results at all, though in my case I saw some initial results pretty quickly. It was only a couple of weeks before I started to see some initial thin hairs growing in the spots where I had placed the serum.

After I had been applying the serum daily for a month, the hairs were growing longer and the area where I had been applying the serum was now covered in a more dense patch of hair. This made a huge difference in the appearance of my hairline in under a month!

I was pretty pleasantly surprised by my experience with this hair serum. There have been no downsides for me so far other than adding a habit to my nighttime routine, and my hair and scalp have already benefited from using it regularly. So far I’ve used almost half the bottle, but I think I can get away with using less than I have to make this bottle last longer than just another month.

Cons of the Ordinary Hair Serum

Some find this serum leaves their head itchy or oily after one or many uses. If you develop a rash after using, definitely put a pause on your use.

Also, while this serum does have amazing results for many, there are a lot who don’t find it helped them with hair growth or hair fullness at all.
